A GUY CALLED GERALD
VOLUME 9
(JUICEBOX)

Yet another four tracker from Gerald. 'Too Fucked To Dance' is just that, squeaks, squeals, breaks and a 'Wrath Of Kane' sample. 'Darker Than I Should Be' takes you to the darkside - a minimal track with a few bleeps for orchestration. 'This Is The Right Time' has uplifting vocals over a basically rough rhythm track, though overall it has a dark feeling to it. 'Anything V 2.1' is by far the standout cut, and no doubt what this is being bought for. A lot slower than much of the hardcore around at the moment, this is eerie to a frightening degree. The track rolls along, hypnotizing as it goes, with string sections and a familiar but well out together break. Moody is not the word.

*** [out of 5]
