We are very happy to announce our last party in 2016.

It's our honour to present you the return of a living legend, the One and Only A Guy Called Gerald. (Perlon - Bosconi Records)
He is the first UK acid house producer and probably the first producer to have two instrumental dance tracks in the UK charts at the same. He formed 808 State with a drum machine, a 303, 2 Roland SH101s and 2 other humans. His collaborations stem from Frankie Knuckles, Goldie, Finley Quaye and Derrick May through to Herbie Hancock, remixed for David Bowie, Lamb, Stone Roses, Black Uhuru, Can, Tricky, Roman Fluegel.
He will be playing a special EXTENDED LIVE SET for you beloved #roomers. This is history.

We also introducing you the Live act, producer and label owner of "Parallel Berlin" / the amazing DANIELA LA LUZ. (Parallel Berlin - RAWAX). Daniela´s live sets and productions expand the boundaries of understanding house and techno music to new horizons.

We are looking forward to close this year with you and these great musicians.

Grooveschool's Young Styles will be performing early doors on the newly vamped upper tier terrace which is being covered for the season, meaning the upstairs function one will be rocking from early doors too.

Once again we are privileged to host our fundraiser at the-pow, come join us in the festivities, on the terrace, in the club room and of course the freshly refurbed boudoir.

Sure to be a great night, can't wait :)

With its sweet 17 years of existence Sender Records has managed to reach the magic catalogue number 100 this year. Here you go, already two good reasons to really pop the corks!

We are very happy to present a night with two outstanding live-performances. A good friend of the label is A Guy Called Gerald, ground building legend from the UK and Techno-pioneer from the first hour, who dives into his dark four-to-the floor madness. He absolutely went through the roof the last few times at suicide.
The second live-set is Bruno Pronsato, an american now living in Berlin with an organic, abstract and really sexy sound, also known for his HALF HAWAII-project on Perlon.

Dj’s of the night are Jacob Phono, Ferdinand Dreyssig and of course Sender mastermind Benno Blome.

The frequency is running hot...

An iconic name in dance music, A Guy Called Gerald stands out for consistent innovation,
excellence and refusal to compromise. A Guy Called Gerald kick started Europe’s acid house
frenzy with his ’88 classic ‘Voodoo Ray’ and ‘Pacific State’ (as part of 808 State) and went on to lay down the blueprint for jungle / drum n bass. Nine albums and 25 years of independence later, he continues to push the boundaries of electronic dance music touring worldwide bringing his “true school” flavour to a world overloaded with pop pap.

Also on the bill is Hacienda legend Jon Dasilva and TECHnique resident DJ Alan Macpherson

♯ A GUY CALLED GERALD [LIVE]
Well, what can we say really? Gerald is an innovator. An originator. From raw electro funk to the washed out bliss of ‘Pacific State’, from the rugged and tribal sounds of ‘Groove of the Ghetto’ to the no nonsense jackin’ of ‘Blow Your House Down’, A Guy Called Gerald has been a driving force in dance music for over 25 years. In his 20s, Gerald was already making tunes with artists like Derrick May and co-founded 808 State, producing music that would go on to influence generations of artists all over the world. He has been described as a ‘self written bible of dance music’, collaborating with seminal artists like Frankie Knuckles and Herbie Hancock and releasing notable remixes of The Stone Roses, David Bowie and others. Taking influences from the sounds of New York, Detroit and his hometown of Manchester, from ‘Voodoo Ray’ to ‘How Long is Now’, Gerald has been forever relevant, forever forward-thinking; his art forever evolving, forever musical. We are beyond buzzin’ to bring him into a city centre warehouse space for a two hour live session improvising his unique sound alongside some of our favourite acts from Shefftown. This is going to be special…

♯ DR CRYPTIC B2B PHATWORLD
Head honchos of Chip Butty Records & Off Me Nut Records respectively, these lot have been murkin it left right and centre for the last few years, pushing and redefining the sound of Sheffield bass music in the process. Expect warping bass and lengaz all over!

♯ MISTABISHI &KORG ELECTRIBE [LIVE]
Coming up from London to show us some real old skool electronic musicianship it's the man like Mistabishi. Honing his craft in squat parties on the Korg EMX and with releases on Hospital records & others , this man can make one groovebox sound like a whole orchestra!! "This is real party music, for people who like their parties loud, screwfaced and completely free of official meddling."

♯ DJ PIPES [KABAL]
Holding it down as Kabal's resident DJs and playing host to some of the most vibrant parties in these seven hills, it's only right that we invite Pipes to shut down the party. Eclectic groovers and bangers straight from the heart and down to ya marrow bone ;)..

♯ ISIS MORAY [LIVE]
We describe Isis Moray's live performance as "A mesmerising live set which utilises various hardware boxes from vocal processors to drum machines and samplers to create a deep soundscape, progressing through washed out ambience to more rugged and squelchy techno." Nuff said!

♯ KONG. [LIVE]
Immediately palatable to the ear, kong.'s hazy productions have been a regular feature of our radio show on Reform Radio and, we feel, will provide the perfect soundtrack to start your evening with us. Raw sample based hiphop produced on hardware.

Gerardo Delgado and Quinn Whalley's music as Paranoid London reveres a certain tradition. They use vintage hardware, and most of their records are pressed on 180g vinyl with simple artwork and minimal fuss. Their sound has always been inspired by the old school. They sold more of their debut album than anyone else without any press, reviews or promotional copies given away. They destroyed every party/festival they playe including Panorama Bar, Sonar By Night, Dekmantel & the Fabric 16th birthday party. This is the real deal: dirty, repetitive music for DJ's & dancers.

Breaking beats since 1988, A Guy Called Gerald has been an iconic name in the electronic music scene worldwide for over 20 years. One of the UK's finest, most respected, innovative and forward thinking home-grown electronic music producers. He is the Godfather of Acid House and pioneered the style which became drum'n'bass with his visions, his stylistic versatility and open mindedness having a huge influence on the development of global dance culture.

We're really excited to announce the first Boston appearance of a true legend. A Guy Called Gerald, veteran of the Manchester Acid House scene, former collaborator with such luminaries as 808 State, and prolific producer of everything from acid house to jungle, is going to be joining us to perform live all night downstairs. This is a huge treat as Gerald has had only toured in the US for limited engagements over the years.

Upstairs, Sweet Shop residents Chad and Matt will be playing host to Some Like It Hott's maestro, Alan Manzi, as well as resident Paul MacGillivray (Paulinate). This is our second event in a series of two-floor house and techno takeovers of Good Life and if you made it out to the August event, you know it will not disappoint.

We really encourage people to come out early to this one as we anticipate an early sellout. As mentioned, Gerald will be busy at work early on and will play until close and we expect that this is going to be a special night.

MOONDANCE FESTIVAL
Hopkins’s Fields, North Park,
Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park
Stratford, London, E20 3ZH
Sunday 18th September 2016 (11AM – 10PM / Last entry 6PM)

Celebrating rave culture from its roots to the innovators of today!

OVER 180 ACTS / 8 STAGES / 10 BRANDS / 1 EXCITING NEW LOCATION

Found presents Moondance Festival unite with some of the UK's most prestigious, independent promoters to celebrate the pioneers of dance music, showcasing the best in old skool, drum & bass, garage, house, jungle and grime. Taking place at a new location, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in east London on Sunday 18th September 2016, Moondance Festival will be one of the first electronic music events hosted on the iconic site.

Following four sold out festivals at Finsbury Park, the promoters who have been behind these festivals feel it's time to take you on a new adventure to an exciting, previously unused London site...

Created for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park will now provide a unique location to host Moondance Festival. Covering 560 acres, the stunning Park includes 6.5km of waterways,15 acres of woodland and eight permanent venues, all situated within a 10 minute walk from Stratford International station.

FOUND: Over the last 4 sold out summer seasons Found have successfully booked, operated and promoted 10 large-scale festivals on a variety of London sites including Brockwell Park, Finsbury Park, Haggerston Park and Trent Park.

MOONDANCE: Celebrating 21 years of sold out shows this year, Moondance is one of London’s biggest promoters running successful shows at some of London’s most iconic venues including Astoria, Bagleys, Canvass, Coronet, Crystal Palace Sports Centre, Great Suffolk Street Warehouse, Koko, Roller Express, Scala and the SeOne Complex.

We’re also very excited to announce the stage hosts for Found presents Moondance Festival: Garage Nation, Breakin Science, Epidemik, Jungle Mania and Roast, Promised Land, Analog and House FM are some of the UKs most prestigious independent promoters, who have been running successful shows in the UK & Abroad for over 25 years.

With plenty of surprises still to come, Moondance Festival's final two arenas are still to be revealed as well as further headline acts to be announced for the Main Stage, Garage Nation & Promised Land arenas.

Promoting the same egalitarian and unifying ethos that underpinned early dance music culture, Moondance Festival will have no VIP arena, with festival-goers free to enjoy every stage throughout the day.

To make the Moondance festival experience accessible to everyone, the tickets are starting at a very reasonable £15 each.

Berlin based André Lodemann has been a DJ for more than 20 years. In 2001 he started to produce music releasing 12-inches and remixes on Moods n Grooves, Simple Records, G-Stone, Room with a View, Z Records, Freerange, Buzzinfly, DFTD amongst others. His tunes ‘Where are you now?’ and ‘The Light’ became hugely popular with the worldwide underground DJ circuit. Other highlights include remixes for Tracey Thorn, Omar, Akabu, Phonique and Vakula to name a few. Citing his greatest influences as Masters at Work, Mateo and Matos, Kerri Chandler and François Kevorkian, Lodemann’s musical vision is to create atmosphere, arouse emotion and touch people musically. In May 2012 Lodemann released his first album ‘FRAGMENTS’. It is a showcase of an incredible creative output of an artist determined to create emotional music off the beaten track avoiding typical building blocks and tacky software gimmicks. The double CD album encompasses both his own work with material released on labels incl. Freerange, Room with A View and his own. As well as remixes done for different artists. Andre Lodemann feels secure in both a warm deep house feeling aswell as in a brisk techy vibe not only in his productions but also behind the decks. His latest EP “Leaving the Comfort Zone” was released on Innvervisions on August 28th, 2015.

You can get your tickets, check out line up and find out all the latest news here: https://www.awamutogether.co.uk/

The Awamu Foundation has been set up with one target in mind, over the next three years we’ve challenged ourselves to ensure that 3000 orphaned and vulnerable children in the poorest slum area of Kampala, Uganda, get the education that is vital to their future.

We believe that education represents the only way out of a life of entrenched poverty and potential exploitation.

Like this party, Awamu is unique as all their work (both in the UK and Uganda) is driven by volunteers, reflecting our core belief – working together we can create something wonderful.

We hope to cover all our costs and raise as much as possible towards Awamu's work. If you add a donation to your ticket price we will make sure that the full value of your gift is passed to Awamu.

100% of anything you donate will directly to helping vulnerable children gain the education that could change their lives.

A Guy Called Gerald

He kick started Europe’s acid house frenzy with his ’88 classic ‘Voodoo Ray’ and 'Pacific State' (as part of 808 State) and went on to lay down the blueprint for jungle / drum n bass. Nine albums and 25 years of independence later, he continues to push the boundaries of electronic dance music.

Darren (808 State)

On Friday 8th July we’re taking rave back to it's roots - 6 hours filled with acid & hedonistic sounds providing non-stop dancing & feel good vibes until sunrise. We couldn't think of anywhere better to host this than our underground basement with none other than 808 State’s A Guy Called Gerald heading the bill…

Few people can claim to have had the impact on a musical scene as Manchester’s A Guy Called Gerald. Starting out in the late eighties and inspired by the emerging Hacienda scene around him, one of his earliest releases literally changed the musical landscape: his ‘Voodoo Ray’ track with its gurgling bassline, reversed samples and otherworldly atmospheres came to define the new acid house sound and has remained a timeless classic to this day. What’s more, work as part of seminal group 808 State also spawned the similarly classic ‘Pacific State’ and introduced generations of party people to a whole new sound. He is joined on the night by 808 band member Darren Partington who will be bringing the full acid house experience to the club.

Following the fully sold out Hacienda Classical event in Castlefield that day, FAC 51 The Hacienda returns to Albert Hall on Saturday 2nd July with another mega line-up. Detroit's techno innovator Derrick May will be joined by Manchester's A Guy Called Gerald and acid house legends Justin Robertson & Jon Dasilva.

Derrick May has defined electronic dance music and is responsible for "Nude Photo", "Kaos'', "It is what it is'' and of course,"Strings of Life" which was inspirational in the acid house revolution. Joining Derrick is A Guy Called Gerald who's similarly respected for his early production skills of "Voodoo Ray" and "Pacific State" through to "Black Secret Technology" and the "Live in Session" series. We can't wait to see him return to Hacienda which played such an instrumental part in his early career.

Completing the line-up is Justin Robertson & Jon Dasilva who renew their long association with the club, City and Manchester's thriving music scene. Justin's eclectic and diverse tastes continues to mark him out as a finely crafted DJ and producer. We can't wait to see what he has in store for us this July! Completing the line-up is Jon Dasilva who wrote the soundtrack for FAC 51's acid house adventure and was a huge influential figure in the journey of the club. With a string of cutting edge remixes and productions spanned across labels including Get Physical, Rush Hour, Soma, Mute and Deconstruction, Jon's expansive DJ sets demonstrate his wide musical tastes and expert ability.

Last entry is 00:30 to accomodate those coming straight from the Hacienda Classical event at Castlefield Bowl.

The relationship between Gerald, the club and the shop go back a long way making this a special and one off return. Gerald's early work 808 State on "New Build" and "Pacific State" were initially released on the shop's own Creed Records label and as Eastern Bloc was the pivotal shop for the Manchester dance scene it came to push and support his releases from "Voodoo Ray" onwards.

About Eastern Bloc, Gerald remembers that "There was a lot of diversity in the shops back then, particularly Eastern Bloc. It wasn’t just dance stuff in there, it was indie stuff as well. You’d pick up on all the gigs that were going on around in there as well. They were very much a community as well, they all chipped in and put together to get the shop going. They all had different ideas and were all coming from different backgrounds so I think it was interesting for people to go down there and get involved. You could always tell there was loads of activity, there were loads of flyers and posters all over the walls. It was a great time really."

"Voodoo Ray" became Manchester's seminal track, and with its release many considered it gave the city a sound of its own. On Voodo Ray Gerald commented that "Voodoo Ray was totally designed for the Hacienda. That’s was the sounding ground for everything we were doing, even when I was working with 808 State, we always had the Hacienda in mind. It was kind of the place where you thought if we can play it in there that’d be really cool. I actually always wanted to bring the studio into the Hacienda, that was one of my ambitions but it was definitely a place where you’d look towards trying to make one of your tunes work there"

Acid-house pioneer and veritable godfather of British dance music, A Guy Called Gerald makes his Flash debut alongside Bosconi Records boss Fabio Della Torre as part of our showcase highlighting the Florentine label. Bosconi's catalogue is deep, jazzy, unquanitized and filtered, with its feet planted firmly in house music history and its face turned toward the future. Established in 2010, the label boasts releases from Paul Johnson, Bruno Pronsato, Mass Prod, and of course, A Guy Called Gerald. Mysteries Of The Mind honcho Chris Burns guides us into the lower atmosphere as we begin our journey into space. Audio Zen returns to #FlashBar for their bi-monthly seance featuring the usual suspects: Alex Gardel, Graham Hatke and Trev-ski.

A GUY CALLED GERALD:

An iconic name in dance music, A Guy Called Gerald stands out for consistent innovation, excellence and refusal to compromise. A Guy Called Gerald kick started Europe’s acid house frenzy with his ’88 classic ‘Voodoo Ray’ and 'Pacific State' (as part of 808 State) and went on to lay down the blueprint for jungle / drum n bass. Nine albums and 25 years of independence later, he continues to push the boundaries of electronic dance music touring worldwide bringing his "true school" flavour to a world overloaded with pop pap.

Although his remixes are relatively enviable including the likes of David Bowie, Cabaret Voltaire, Black Uhuru, Finley Quaye, Lamb, Tricky and The Stone Roses, it is Gerald’s own productions and refusal to plough anyone’s furrow but his own which has marked him out. A Guy Called Gerald is responsible for the birth of British dance music as you know it today and continues to explore what is possible both in the studio and in the club with his "Live in Session" performances.

Since 2012 he has been working on a side project with Graham Massey (808 State) called REBUILD performing live jams on the Roland machines. “How Long Is Now” was released on Bosconi Records in 2012. A live album Silent Sound Spread Spectrum followed from the Society of Sound Series – a collaboration between Bowers & Wilkins and Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios in 2013.

In 2016 he continues to be in demand worldwide with his Live In Session shows using a vast patchwork of past, present and future experimenting effortlessly between early acid house through abstract tech breaks into dreamscapes of futuristic oscillations. At Glastonbury Festival this year he will be performing with Funktion One’s Ambisonic Experimental system – a six stack Ambisonic full-sphere surround sound technique that is ‘capable of recreating accurate three-dimensional sound stages from original recordings’.

In the studio he is busy recording a steady stream of releases on his own digital label and a new album due out in mid 2017.

"I have decided the only way to give music to the people is raw and straight from the true school. I don't have to hide behind any trend or gimmicks. ie. analogue equipment and vinyl fetishism. I'm sorry to say but I still feel like I'm blazing the way forward only because everyone seems to be stuck in "retrogression" mode. Maybe they need a stop / start to get them out of the loop? I refuse to compromise when it comes to my sound. I realised that I'm the only real deal within dance music when I found it was impossible for me to sell out. This is the True School."
- A Guy Called Gerald

FABIO DELLA TORRE:

Fabio Della Torre alias Corcos is the founder of Bosconi Records and part of the project Minimono together with Ennio Colaci.

His dj carrier begins at Tenax, Florence, in 1995. Since then he has been gigging in almost every corner of the Italian peninsula and appeared in some of the best clubs internationally. Among the clubs rocked , we count Panorama Bar, within a Bosconi Label Night, Concrete Paris, Dc10, Rex Paris, Animal Social Club in Rome and many others..
Fabio has currently a residency at Tenax club Florence.

His surgical and spot-on mixing skills allow him to embark in versatile journeys, ranging from deep house to raw techno-funk and more quirky and minimal dance cuts, where it becomes clear the major influence that labels like Logistic, Telegraph, Perlon and Tuning Spork had on him since early 2000.

Since 2004, Fabio has produced music under pseudonyms as Minimono, Corcos, Quitefrut, and with his dj name Fabio della Torre. He has published on Bosconi records and on labels such as Telegraph, Tunigspork, Ethique, Tenax, Oslo, Cargo Edition, Points, Teng and his works have been remixed by artists such as Cabanne, John Thomas, P & D, Jay Haze, Eduardo De La Calle, Trimsound, Gari Romalis and last but not least Mr. Scott Grooves.

In 2008, from the need to give his own vision of electronic dance music also coming from representative of the Tuscan and Italian, Fabio founded together with Ennio Bosconi records and a little later with his friend and DJ Rufus was born the younger sister Bosconi Extra Virgin, dedicated to sounds more disco and funk, downtempo and electronica.

To date, Fabio has brought to life more than fifty records on Bosconi Records, featuring an impressive number of internationally acclaimed producers: A Guy Called Gerald, Dj Nature, Andres, Paul Johnson, Scott Grooves, San Proper, just to name a few..

And some young and promising italian artists such as Herva, Life's Track, Nas1, Rufus, Dukwa, Riccio.. taking the label to a world-wide hall of fame, gaining a RA Label Of The Month feature and a label nights in clubs like Panorama Bar and Tresor.

A Guy Called Gerald is 25+ years of dance music incarnate. From “Voodoo Ray” in 1988 to “Tronic Jazz” released on Germany’s respected Laboratory Instinct label in 2010, this man is a self-written bible of dance music.

With the end of the US embargo in sight, these are exciting and incredibly fragile times for Cuba. MANANA 2016 is an inclusive and collaborative festival built on the deep love and mutual respect we all have for rhythm.

MANANA 2016 is approved by the Cuban Government, and will run from the 4th – 6th May in the historic cultural capital of Santiago de Cuba.

We believe that an international electronic music audience will find inspiration in Afro-Cuban folkloric music, and that Cuba’s powerful blend of rhythm, flow and feeling will enrich the development of electronic music and its community. In return, MANANA 2016 will be an opportunity for Cubans to share their incredible cultural heritage, collaborate, and use technology to take their musical development in new directions.

A Guy Called Gerald, Ariwo

An iconic name in dance music, A Guy Called Gerald stands out for consistent innovation, excellence and refusal to compromise - tonight he plays a live set of his own music. A Guy Called Gerald kickstarted Europe’s acid house frenzy with his ’88 classic ‘Voodoo Ray’ and ‘Pacific State’ (as part of 808 State) and went on to lay down the blueprint for jungle / drum n bass. Nine albums and twenty-five years of independence later, he continues to push the boundaries of electronic dance music touring worldwide bringing his “true school” flavour to a world overloaded with pop pap.

Ariwo is a Cuban/Iranian quartet, focussing on the unexplored intersection between electronic and Afro-Cuban folkloric music. The band combines the raw energy of Cuban rumba shows with the deep melancholy of Iranian electronic music. They are stopping off in London prior to performances at the first Manana Festival in Santiago de Cuba in May. The word Ariwo means “Noise” in Yoruba and underscores the band’s emphasis on sound and its desire to combine traditional rhythms into a live electronic performance that challenges perceptions of ancestral music, and connects diverse cultures from around the world.

Ariwo comprises Iranian electronic composer, Pouya Ehsaei (Entr’acte), and three of London’s most influential Cuban musicians: Oreste Noda (Sambroso Sambroso), Yelfris Valdes (Sierra Maestra) and Latin Grammy winner, Hammadi Valdes (Carlos Acosta / Irakere). Pouya processes their live instruments while creating soundscapes and hypnotic rhythms that draw influence from the folkloric music of Cuba and his home city of Tehran.

Get Diverted’s customary opening party this year brings acid house pioneer A Guy Called Gerald alongside Superfreq’s Mr C. We look forward to bringing you another excellent programme of terrace parties in our 8th year on the Brixton Roof Top!

Our first headliner, A Guy Called Gerald pretty much kick-started UK acid house with his ’88 Hacienda classic ‘Voodoo Ray’ and ‘Pacific State‘ (he was one of the founding members of 808 State) – gatecrashing the charts in the process – and went on to lay down the blueprint for jungle music - and has since continued his role as one of the UK’s most dedicated producers. On top of releases on seminal labels like Perlon, Sender, !K7 and Beatstreet over the past 10 years, GCG released his 9th album ‘Tronic Jazz: The Berlin Sessions’ last year on specialist Berlin label Laboratory Instinct. We welcome one of dance music’s most unassuming heroes to take us way back to a time when US imports were streaming into the underground record stores in Manchester.

Alongside Gerald we are excited to have the return of Mr C to Get Diverted. International DJ, innovative producer, founder of Superfreq, Plink Plonk, End Recordings, The Shamen frontman and co owner of The End, Mr C emerged as a pioneering force in the house music scene in 1987 and has continued to be instrumental in the proliferation of dance music on a global scale. Starting off as an MC in London’s clubs at the age of 16, he then hooked up with Colin Faver and Eddie Richards to become the resident rapper at Camden Palace. This inspired Richard to become a DJ, playing his beloved house and techno at some of London most infamous parties including Fantasy, Release and Harmony alongside holding down a weekly radio show called Future Music on Kiss FM.

In 1995 Richard opened the legendary nightclub The End, with Layo Paskin, he is also the founder and owner of Plink Plonk records and promoter of the hedonistic Superfreq parties which operate globally. He remains very current on the production front with recent releases on Berlin label Get Physical. Now residing in LA, Mr C’s London gigs are now less frequent, which makes his Good Friday appearance even more special.

We also welcome back our resident Samantha Blackburn, having spent last summer in South Africa, alongside Elijah Collins, Russell Wayne, Rob Alldritt and more in the Boudoir!

The series of gigs will showcase the best of UK bass music, seeing unique lineups of legendary and emerging bass talent. Each city will play host to the biggest musical crews from the area, primed to dig deep and go head to head with their own take on UK bass music.

Expect house and jungle pioneer A Guy Called Gerald and his Basstronic crew, local premium roots purveyors Dub Smugglers, Mancunian grime collective LEVELZ, and the city’s jungle and d&b forces as Made in Manchester, all take to a stage each.

With its roots in Jamaican soundclash culture, each event sees the four collectives competing over four rounds, utilising their biggest tunes, freshly cut dubs, special guests, performances and surprises to win over the crowd and walk away as champion.
