This New Years Eve see’s the return of underground party masters WANG. Their past NYE events are the stuff of legends, and this years looks set to be another corker.

They have enlisted the mighty ‘A Love From Outer Space’ events with none-other than Lord Saber himself Andrew Weatherall who will be playing one of his famous and not to be missed 4 hour marathon mixes! He performs along side his partner in crime The Hardway Brother him self Mr Sean Johnson.

Hot on the heels of their sell out show at Koko, Plaid will be playing live, showcasing tracks from their hotly anticipated forthcoming album 'Scintilli' as well as from their back catalog.

Another longtime WANG collaborator A Guy Called Gerald will be playing a special NYE classics set.
Lord and Lady WANG Electro Elvis and Lula will of course be gracing the turntables along side some very special guests which they are set to announce real soon, but we can assure you it it’s going to be VERY exciting indeed!

December 2010 sees Animal Farm mark their 6th Birthday in style with the legendary Mancunian, A Guy Called Gerald, joining them for a 2 hour live set.

From ‘Voodoo Ray’, the track that practically defines acid house, to modern day live gigs that will become the template for DJing of the future, this Berlin-based, Manchester-born pioneer, with 9 artist albums in a 25 year career, is an international name that has defied genres and continues to push the boundaries of what is possible in the world of electronic music, both in the studio and in the club.

2010 and Gerald Simpson is still the revolutionary, making the concept of the DJ extinct in terms of how we once knew it. Not only is A Guy Called Gerald unique in that he brings his entire production suite into the club for every performance, but it is a genuine LIVE act; a constant interaction with the crowd, a fluid jam session with an instinctive keyboard riff just as likely as a flurry of bass, always pushing the sound system’s capabilities to the limit and then some.

There are no inferior-quality, compressed CDs or mp3s here, no pre-programmed laptop; this is the full breadth of the spectrum, this is untarnished, analogue sound for our digitally subdued world. Those lucky enough to have been part of the show - whether they be at Fabric in London, Panorama Bar in Berlin, Robert Johnson in Frankfurt or the Detroit Electronic Movement Festival (DEMF) –will testify to having been moved by it….. physically and emotionally moved, that’s exactly the point!!

Efter en flitig klubbsäsong med många tunga bokningar kommer vi nu öppna upp hela Röda Stens nedervåning, med kapacitet på över 600 personer, för en verklig dansbatalj. På fredagen har vi COKI som genom DMZ definierat half-step soundet och influerat hela scenen, inte minst genom deras klubbkvällar på The Mass i Brixton.

A GUY CALLED GERALD började sin 25-åriga karriär med att smyga in på Manchesters underground klubbar för att öva på sina moves... Det var tidigt 80-tal och electrofunk som strömmade ut genom högtalarna. Det dröjde inte länge innan han byggt sin första studio på föräldrarnas vind. Några år senare, 1988, medverkade Gerald på 808 States legendariska "Newbuild". Han kom att definiera acid-house scenen med låtar som "Vodoo Ray" , som remixades av Frankie Knuckles och ledde till en USA-turne med DJs från Hacienda. I början av 90-talet experimenterade han i gränslandet mellan techno och jungle och hans komplexa, råa rhytmer har influerat drum n bass scenen sen dess begynnelse. Varje släpp från AGCG har fört med sej något nytt, oasvett om det är lågmäld deep house, vokal drum n bass, smutsig proto-acid eller detroit techno.

Med sin självständiga attityd gentemot trender och musikindustrin har Gerald fortsatt utöva inflytande. 9 album och otaliga tolvor senare, samarbeten med Herbie Hancock, Roy Ayers, David Bowie, Tricky och många andra, från Manchester till London, New York till Berlin... Gerald står aldrig still, och hans energiska, improviserade set ser till att dansgolvet inte gör det heller!

TYREE COOPER är uppvuxen på Chicago's South Side, där han tidigt kom i kontakt med den snabbt växande housescenen. Mike Dunn lärde honom att hantera skivspelarna, och inspirerad av några av house scenens mest inflytelserika DJ's som Farley "Jackmaster Funk" och Ron Hardy, kom han senare att hamna i ett band tillsammans med Jesse Saunders.

Skolad av de bästa i tidig ålder kom hans första skivkontrakt 1986. "I fear the night" med sångerskan Chic blev en succe på Ron Hardy's Music Box klubb, och följdaktligen i Chicagos underground scen. Andra ikoniska hits inkluderar "Acid Over", "Let's get hyped" m Kool Rock Steady, "Let the Music Take Control" och många andra. Hans samarbete med DJ "Fast Eddie" Smith förenade house och rap för första gången i vad som kom att kallas Hip House. Detta skapade en hel del uppståndelse inom hip-hop scenen, men idag är denna typ av MC's ett återkommande inslag inom house.

Armerad till tänderna med det tyngsta av knorriga 303, dammiga piano chords och spruckna strängar från Chicago's ökända vinyltryckerier kommer TYREE COOPER med två skivspelare och en mick testa ljudsystemets gränser i ännu en svettig session!

HÅKAN MOMENTH är legendariske techno/house DJ'n som under 90-talet höll i fler svartkkubbar än Capone under förbudstiden. Numera i Stockholmsexil, men återkommer alltså denna helg med ett unikt vinylset fullt av avdammade gamla Dance Mania och Trax skivor, obskyr acid och annat smått och gott från hans outtömliga samling, En efterlängtad och mycket efterfrågad DJ session har vi alltså att se fram emot!!!

COKI är ena halvan av DIGITAL MYSTIKZ, där han tillsammans med Mala varit med och format dubstep från dess allra första dagar. Flera av scenens nyckelhändelser hänger ihop med deras utveckling. På skivbolaget DMZ trängs inflytelserika släpp av oantastlig kvalite, och när en överväldigande kö tvingade Brixtons legendariska klubb The Mass att flytta spelningen till det största dans-golvet markerade det början på dubsteppens segertåg. Detta blev ännu tydligare då deras "Anti-war Dub" var med i storfilmen "Children of Men" , vilket fick en hel värld att uppmärksamma Södra London's musikscen.

Lugn och tillbakadragen privat, men väl känd för sin förmåga att svetsa ihop massiva, metalliska basgångar från landet bortom... En sann baskrigare som äntligen besöker Göteborg för första gången!

Även KROMESTAR är från södra London, där han i över 10 års tid producerat hip-hop, dubstep och grime (under hans Ironsoul alias). Den ständigt rödögde producenten har knappast legat på latsidan. På bara några få år har han byggt upp en bakkatalog som heter duga, med släpp på många av dom mest respekterade bolagen, så som Hot Flush, South Side, Bare Dubs, F1 Dubs och Deep Medi Musik (som drivs av Mala från DMZ). Därtill driver han Kromestar Recordings, kör radioshow på rinse.fm under namnet "Anti social", och fortsätter driva sin stil framåt i samarbeten med bl a F-One, Virus Syndicate, Hatcha och Walsh,

JAY5IVE är välrenommerade, extremt tajta radio DJ'n på rinse-fm- som f ö nyligen fått FM licens efter hela 16 år i etern! Vi var många som älskade "Wishful thinking", och efter släpp som "Bass 96" och "Hands in da air" med Kromestar väntar vi nu på att de white labels som är i cirkulation bland prominenta dubstep DJ's ska nå oss vanliga dödliga. Till dess får vi spetsa öronen efter outrgivet material och remixer när J5 attackerar Röda Stens 1200s!

Kone-R is the man behind the Uncharted Audio record label, which has introduced the likes of Cursor Miner, LJ Kruzer, Kings Have Long Arms and plenty of other weird and wonderful sonic tomfoolery to the world. Manning the turntables since 1992 when he discovered the joy of warehouse raves, the spirit of that era lives on in his sets today, with a liberal sprinkling of ambience, techno, breakbeats and plenty of low frequency oscillations. Despite the length of time he’s spent in the booth, he maintains a cutting edge – you’re as likely to hear him drop fresh dubplates by up and coming acts alongside the latest cuts from Berlin to Detroit as you are to hear vintage rave, classic disco and timeless electro.

His sets come in various flavours – spend a couple of hours with him and you’re likely to hear anything from crunchy melodic hip hop through to the heavier side of dubstep. If you like tracks with a cheeky side to them (and a whole lot of BASS!) you can count on finding them in his sets.

Ginglik’s resident VJ SuRReaLaRTIST pushes the boundaries of live clubland visuals. Turning the beats into light, colour and shape creating a truly multi-sensory dance floor experience. Mixing an eye popping blend of tough graphics, cult films, timelapse, CGI, lasers, stop-frame animation, surrealism & abstraction; all with a bit of dark humour thrown in there for good measure. Po uspehu popularnega singla "Voodoo Ray", ki je doţivel premiero v legendarni Haciendi davnega leta 1988 in je predstavljal enega prvih acid house komadov, narejenih v Veliki Britaniji ter sodelovanju v kultnem actu 808 State (za katerega je prispeval brezcasni "Pacific State") v devetdesetih je Gerald Simpson izdal serijo singlov (kasneje zbranih na albumu "28 Gun Bad Boy", ki so definirali zvok, ki ga danes poznamo kot jungle oz. drum'n'bass. Ko se je v naslednji petih letih ta glasba razširila in popularizirala tudi izven obmocja Velike Britanije, je izdal dobro sprejeti "Black Secret Technology", ki velja za enega prvih solo drum'n'bass albumov sploh. The Warehouse and Roller Disco

A Disco to Disco experience, linking the past with the present. Bringing Britain's distinctive dance culture and DJ history to the fore by paying respect to our rich club culture and the DJs that have shaped it. Vintage at Goodwood

Taking its lead from the Festival of Britain, there is no single focus in terms of the creative arts. The event will explore musical, fashion, film, art, design and cultural lineages and offer a glimpse of where we go from here. The Vintage site will host a fully functioning pop up High Street brimming with designer brands, bars and cafe, hands on creative workshops, a cinema, 100s of cool cars and the largest vintage clothes market ever assembled, as well as over 80 live performances alongside 85 pioneering DJs across 2 outdoor stages, 5 on-site nightclubs and roller disco..

From Dublin, Donnacha Costello released a new album "Before We Say Goodbye" on Poker Flat last March: the album is Donnacha's fourth full length project (including his 2003 LP Isol on Raster_Noton) and takes you on an emotional ride through deep house, ambient and techno. Lars Brämer aka Larsson spins his energetic musical journeys, a mixture between minimal house and techno, perfect to rock the floors with quality electronic dance music. Larsson released since 2006 on labels like Bpitch, Traum, Trapez, Get Physical, Hi Freaks, Rotary Cocktail and M-nus. Among too many projects to mention here, he joined Fumakilla and Fumalab where he released Take A Ride and Der Kleine Kleine Elefant“ which was released in Febuary 2010. The man behind Keinemusik is Rampa, releasing his first track on the label in 2009 ("Wife and Man"), and who you can find behind decks in Berlin or New York spinning his own definition of house and techno, bridging the gap between deepness and elation. A veteran of Berlin electronica since the 90s, SiD works for Freizeitglauben Records and arranges events like Frischzellenkur, 3+1, Fashing Light and Freizeitglauben label parties in series. Part of his sets are special mixing techniques and a unique choice of records that almost verges to absolute insanity, sounding like deep loopy house combined with a breeze of techno and minimal techno. Complimenting this eclectic Globus line-up is Michael Nadjé. Downstairs in Tresor the night features an artist who barely needs an introduction. The legend himself A Guy Called Gerald, will deliver a live set for the lucky ones who make it to the Tresor Floor: as his homepage indicates, no digital - "a fluid freestyle mix down of my own music and my own individual takes on classics referencing the past - direct at 96kz - the exact quality and set up I use to write and record in my studio". From the UK techno roots of the late 80s until today, A Guy Called Gerald remains one of electronic dance music's most brilliant artists so don't miss this chance to experience the legend live! Sharing the bill is Berlin cool mixer Ricardo Esposito, whose tasty samples can be heard on his Myspace page.

And for all you very very late night crawlers, the party goes on in Globus starting at 6am: the official after party begins following the Tempelhof Berlin Summer Rave, with dance music provided by optimal thrust DJs with power as their penchant: Chopstick, Michael Placke and the divine Stereo Jack - hop to it! CHRONICLES aims to create such an experience for you once more with a carefully selected line-up that we feel will encompass the task that we are about to engage.

The Setting

The arches underneath London Bridge have a long and illustrious history, and have been used as dance halls since the war. From the early days of Acid House to the present day, the venues under London Bridge have been a bastion of the underground scene.

Cable-London has emerged as the culmination of all that has gone before,taking things to a whole new level.
The venue has been designed to give the best possible experience within the space. The whole venue has a feeling of intimacy, unusual for arches with 35 feet high ceilings. The rawness and beauty of the space has in no way been compromised by the design, as so often seen with railway arch development. It is truly a celebration of our industrial heritage.

The sound system is truly awesome. The latest offering from Nova, sees their new align technology's first installation worldwide. It has to be heard.

Im Zusammenhang mit der Entstehung- und Entwicklungsgeschichte von Acid-House und Drum n Bass darf sein Name nicht fehlen: A Guy Called Gerald. Mit "Pacific State" schrieb er eine der größten Rave-Hymnen überhaupt und sein Track "Voodoo Ray" gilt als eine der Blaupausen des Acid-House. Gerald Simpson stammt aus Manchester, wo er schon früh des Öfteren seine Mutter auf den Weg in die Kirche begleitet, um vor allem den Orgelklängen während der Messe zu lauschen.

Davon inspiriert, beschäftigt er sich fortan mit Musik. Vor allem für Marvin Gaye, Soulmusik und die Jackson Five kann sich Gerald begeistern. Später bereichern Funk. und Hip Hop seine musikalische Leidenschaft. Mittels eines Kassettenrekorders wird kräftig an Stücken wie "Rockit" von Herbie Hancock experimentiert; sozusagen die ersten Gehversuche in Sachen Produktion.

Ein anderes Unterfangen ist die Manchester Band Scratchbeat Master. Danach steigt Simpson bei Hit Squad ein, die sich später in 808 State umbenennen - recht populäre Entwicklungshelfer des Techno. Gerald ist am Entstehen des nicht nur in Großbritannien kommerziell erfolgreichen Tracks "Pacific State" und dem dazu gehörigen Album "Newbuild" maßgeblich beteiligt. Nebenher werkelt Simpson als A Guy Called Gerald an diversen Soloprojekten, da ihm seine musikalische Integrität sehr am Herzen liegt. Mit besagtem "Voodoo Ray", einem Sound mit den Eckpfeilern Detroit Techno und Chicagoesker Housemusic, feiert er weltweit einen Erfolg.
Es folgt ein Majordeal mit Sony und der Release der ersten Platte "Automannik". Seine Popularität steigt, aber parallel auch der Wunsch, von der Plattenfirma nicht gegängelt zu werden. Folgerichtig trennen sich beider Wege und Mr. Simpson ist wieder underground. 1993 erscheint "28 Gun Bad Boy", eine weitere Evolutionsstufe von Drum'n'Bass. Mit dem 1997er "Black Secret Technology"-Album etabliert sich Gerald Simpson endgültig in der Riege des UK Urban Sounds und arbeitet u.a. mit David Bowie und Tricky zusammen, obwohl er zu dieser Zeit eigentlich im New Yorker Stadtteil Brooklyn lebt.

Mittlerweile nennt er Berlin seine neue Wahlheimat. Hier arbeitet er an dem Longplayer "To All Things What They Need", der Anfang 2005 bei K7 Records erscheint.

In den letzten Jahren hat sie Altmeister Gerald Simpson viel in der Berliner Szene getummelt und auf hiesigen Labels wie Perlon, Sender oder Laboratory Instinct veröffentlicht. Auf letzterem hat er auch sein letztes Album “Proto Acid / The Berlin Sessions” veröffentlicht und dort folgt nun auch “Tronic Jazz / The Berlin Sessions”. Hier kehrt Simpson zu seinen Wurzeln im Acid-House der späten 80er Jahre zurück.

Помимо самих участников объединения VATA music, диджея FStep и многих других, в эту ночь на сцене MSPRKT отыграет лайв почётный гость из Манчестера - A Guy Called Jerald! А в это время маленький Faces & Laces танцпол будет полностью отдан в распоряжение корифеев стрит фэшн феста.

В отличие от двух предыдущих вечеринок VATA, грядущий вечер будет посвящен более урбанистичному звучанию, ведь ключевой фигурой мероприятия станет пионер электронной музыки A Guy Called Gerald.

Джералд Симпсон, уроженец Манчестера стоял у истоков английского рейв-движения. Его имя напрямую связано с эпохой возникновения эйсид-хауса в Европе. Джеральд - это звено, связующее чикагский хаус и детройт техно с английской танцевальной сценой конца 80-х. Он стал первым английским эйсид хаус продюсером. Вместе с Грэхемом Мэсси и Мартином Прайсом основал группу 808 State и записал с ними культовый альбом Newbuild, который оказал большое влияние на хаус музыку следующего поколения.

Позднее он создал сольный проект A Guy Called Gerald, выпустил свой самый известный сингл "Voodoo Ray", ставший гимном рейв-движения. В 1989 г. "Voodoo Ray" ворвался в британские чарты, что для инструментального трека является огромным достижением.

После двух эйсид-хаус альбомов (Hot Lemonade и Automanikk), Симпсон активно экспериментировал с брейкбитом. Выпустил массу релизов, начиная от атмосферного драмнбейса заканчивая трип-хопом и даунтемпо. Он сотрудничал с такими музыкантами как Frankie Knuckles, Goldie, Finley Quaye, Derrick May Herbie Hancock; делал ремиксы для David Bowie, Lamb, Stone Roses, Black Uhuru, Can, Tricky, Roman Fluegel and The Orb, участвовал в турне вместе с New Order, Tricky и Bebel Gilberto.

London music collective Feeding Time and cult electronic label Werk Discs join forces for a special one-off clusterfuck of some of today’s most exciting contemporary music and influential legends.

A Guy Called Gerald needs no introduction – a bonafide acid house and techno legend, Gerald is over from Berlin for an exclusive appearance on Plan B’s Funktion One sound system to guarantee the night goes off in style.

Hosts of some of the best underground parties of the last decade, Werk Discs are south London’s most impenetrable rave cult, and will be showcasing three of the label’s key talents. Lone and Lukid bring synthily bittersweet beats, rainforest neu haus and intricately crafted instrumental hip hop, while label boss Actress is currently producing some seriously next-level electronic meaty goodness, and will be previewing material from his upcoming second album ‘Splazsh’, as well as hopefully modeling an interesting new hairstyle.

Gyratory System (Angular Records) will meanwhile bring their astounding three-piece live electronica/brass ensemble to the Brixton stage. Simply unlike anything else you’ve ever heard, producer Andrew Blick conjures up a mindbending marching band straight from one of Walt Disney’s most fevered technicolour nightmares, which will have the crowd dancing and gibbering in confused delight. Also taking to the stage is south-east London’s massively exciting Dave ID, whose clattering transmissions of fizzing electronics, distorted vocals and meaty industrial / hip hop backbone announces the arrival of a powerfully original new talent. Guest DJ Pariah is a young man who has grabbed attention with remixes for the likes of The XX, twisting the darker side of UK garage into seductively futuristic sounds.

Man kann das Rad nicht mehr neu erfinden. Genau so wenig ist es möglich, mit den aktuell zu Verfügung stehenden Mitteln „eine Party auf der elektronische Musik läuft“ völlig neu aufzuziehen. „Twisted Elements“ probiert den Spagat: Ein hochwertiges internationales Line Up, auf Festivalniveau, in Clubatmosphäre zum kleinstmöglichen Preis an 3 aufeinander folgenden Tagen und Nächten. As we roll towards the huge Firefly 10th Birthday show in June, We’re very very proud to be able to bring someone to Nottingham who has pretty much pioneered the Manchester derived acid tinged sounds we all know and love. Gerald Simpson as his family know him, or A Guy Called Gerald to the rest of us, started making music in the 1980’s and has been a dance music institution ever since. From his Manchester roots he started the infamous band 808 State, making anthem after anthem which still live on to this day. He has worked with pretty much every artist from Goldie and Krust, to Finley Quaye and has been credited with the release of the first ever full length Jungle based Drum and Bass album ever in 1995.

His regular trips to Fabric playing Techno and doing Live Drum and Bass shows, still shows his ability and desire to rock a crowd still lives….. In his own words….

When u hear the name A Guy Called Gerald most people in this day and age would probably say "Who the hell's that?", those of you from back in the day are probably saying "I wonder what he is up to now" or probably have some sort of story around Voodoo Ray or Pacific State or Blow Your House Down or 28 Gun Bad Boy. Then there's another group of people who have followed me over the years and know the the full journey I've taken.

Since I started in music I've seen the system change - the old structure crumble away as myself and many of the others I inspired emerged from the bedroom studio with our own self generating independence. I was one of the first to break the mould of the stranglehold that labels and studios and PR machines had on artists. Let me just say that information is techno. The record company dam was broken and there was a tidal wave. It was further fueled by cheaper and cheaper studio machinery and finally the nail in the coffin was the internet. You have no idea how happy this makes me feel.

Getting back to now I wasn't one then or now for riding the tidal wave so I want to give you an idea of what your experience will be hearing A Guy Called Gerald Live. I have a unique insider's view of dance music from the early 80's to now. I started out as a 14 year old dancer sneaking into clubs in Manchester when electro funk was the underground sound. No matter through what genre or in what decade you discovered this music I can guarantee you will leave with a clearer picture of the entire spectrum.

My aim is to give you all a deeper understanding with as much enjoyment as is physically and mentally possible using the three elements more frequently missing from this music - the basis of all dance music : RHYTHM, MELODY and BASS.

Our ethos at Breakfast at EGG is to have the feel of of an intimate house party, where we treat the party, like it's in our living room. We're a polysexual party and that's how we like it here at EGG. Musically we have something for everybody in our multiple dance arenas.

This is reflected in the mix of people that come down straight from a variety of clubs all over London, every Sunday. We keep the Loft quite light-hearted with a true party atmosphere. The Middle floor sees glamorous girls and beautiful boys dancing the morning away to the best pumping underground house music played by big name DJ's every week. The basement is for the real discerning clubber, minimal house brought you by well known DJ's and is also the official after-party for some of the biggest Saturday night's all over town.

Last and definitely not least - the garden. Some people come to Breakfast just for the garden alone. Imagine the terrace at Space in Ibiza. Every week it's packed with fabulously fun people. You can dance, laugh, chat, drink cocktails, bask in the sun or in winter keep warm in our themed tent and SMOKE if you want to!! (the garden is the largest open space in London’s clubland so its completely legal!)

Breakfast at EGG has fast become one of the biggest institutions in Sunday clubbing. Some clubbers love us so much that they stay in on a Saturday night and come down to us specially in the morning!

MARSHALL JEFFERSON

This Chicagoan native might be best known for coaxing the squelch out of Roland’s TB 303 that snowballed into the genre known as acid house. But he also has the unique gift of breaking down tracks to their essential parts, and using them to pull out an artists voice and personality. Together with Larry Sherman, the man behind the seminal Trax Records label, he produced anthems for the likes of CeCe Rogers, Phuture, and Ten City, and he continues to spread magical energy that sets the whole world dancing. Jefferson ain't plain!

A GUY CALLED GERALD

Without Gerald Simpson, the shape of electronic music would not be where it is today. Play Voodoo Ray in a rave and the response will send people wild like it did back in the day. His album Black Secret Technology remains a coveted techno milestone. And with his label Juice Box Records he helped laying the foundations for what we know and love as drum ‘n’ bass. Let Gerald do his voodoo on you.
