23 November: ActionZone, Cargo, London, England |
Details23 November: ActionZone @ Cargo, Cargo, 83 Rivington Street, London,EC2A, England ActionZone, the youth network of development charity ActionAid, are taking over Cargo on Sunday 23rd September to raise funds and awareness for their 'War on Aids' campaign. K7's Spacek will be playing a live set, accompanied by top dance music pioneer A Guy called Gerald, R2 records' DJ Kyri, and Herbal and 93 feet east regulars Moulin-X on the decks. The campaign enjoyed great success at this years Reading festival - ActionZone wishes to build on this by taking the campaign from the fields to the London's clubland with the help of some of the UK's finest dance talents. As A Guy called Gerald says, "The global HIV/Aids crisis is a serious issue. I hope that young people in the UK take notice of what organisations like Action Aid are saying." ActionZone hope to mobilise the newly politicised class of clubbers to take action on the global HIV/Aids crisis that is currently affecting over 48 million people worldwide. One young person dies of Aids every 15 seconds, and almost 60% of all new infections last year were amongst this age group. ActionZone's Brendan O'Donnell says, 'The cost of the War in Iraq so far is '3 Billion and counting. It is imperative that the UK government show the same commitment to the HIV and Aids crisis and give the extra '77 million it owes to the global fund to tackle HIV and Aids.' Check https://www.actionaidspace.org/events/cargo2.html for more information. LIVE: Spacek "SUNSHINE ON A RAINY DAY - ACTIONAID@CARGO Chilblains that weren't cured by the atmosphere or booze couldn't fail but be melted by the lovely music. DJ Kyri kicked off the night with set infused with hip-hop and African beats. Spacek in full flow ActionAid regulars Moulin X put us in the mood with some funky tunes. Spacek's live set got chins stoking with their winning combination of stark R n B influenced sounds and Steve's silky smooth soulful vocals. The culmination of the night was undoubtedly pioneer of dance, A Guy called Gerald, playing a rare set that got people up out of their cozy seats and shaking their thang on the dance floor." 24 July: 10 Days Off, Gent, Belgium |

1 February: CLUB Wang, The Premises, Hackney, London, England |
DetailsCLUB Wang @ The Premises, 201-205 Hackney Rd., E2 (020.7729.7593 ) Tube: Old St. If you prefer parties to clubs then this is a good weekend to be going out dancing -- there's SCAND on Friday while on Saturday Electric Elvis and Lula will host another WANG party down at The Premises. Having just about recovered from this New Year's WANG, they've sorted out a good line-up for this their first party of 2003. Headliners are K-Rock (Rephlex) -- some-time Aphex Twin dancer and purveyor of dirty electro and techno mixed with funk, disco and a sprinkling of two-step -- and a Guy Called Gerald (who is said to have performed an epic 15-minute rendition of his seminal sampler track Voodoo Ray at the NYE WANG party!) Whether Gerald will be playing Detroit techno, acid house, electro, hardcore techno, drum 'n' bass, or all of the above in his set at this WANG is anyone's guess, but it'll be worth hearing whatever he plays! Plus there'll be sets from Dave Blankpage (blankpage + process), Disco Dave (electrophonic), and Laurence 'monzoid' Day (Analogue: Digital) amongst others, across several rooms. Nice venue, friendly faces, good music... |
