An iconic name in dance music, A Guy Called Gerald stands out for consistent innovation, excellence and refusal to compromise. A Guy Called Gerald kick started Europe’s acid house frenzy releasing the first UK acid house record, the ’88 classic ‘Voodoo Ray’ and 'Pacific State' and went on to lay down the blueprint for jungle / drum n bass.

Nine albums and 25 years of independence later, he continues to push the boundaries of electronic dance music touring worldwide bringing his "true school" flavor to a world overloaded with pop music.

Although his remixes are relatively enviable including the likes of David Bowie, Cabaret Voltaire, Black Uhuru, Finley Quaye, Lamb, Tricky and The Stone Roses, it is Gerald’s own productions and refusal to plough anyone’s furrow but his own which has marked him out. A Guy Called Gerald is responsible for the birth of British dance music as you know it today and continues to explore what is possible both in the studio and in the club with his "Live in Session" performances.

theoretic is a Brooklyn, NY-based DJ & producer. They've made a name for themselves in the underground dance music scene playing at lauded clubs such as Elsewhere, Le Bain, Jupiter Disco, to name a few.

theoretic's tracks have been featured on compilations from labels Air Texture, Inner Ocean Records, Somersault Records, & Others to the Front.

They have been deeply influenced by Black music throughout the diaspora; their sound--whether DJing live, in their mixes, or their production they break norms and meld genres.

A Guy Called Gerald, an iconic figure in dance music renowned for his groundbreaking work in the UK's acid house movement with tracks like the '88 classic "Voodoo Ray" and as a founding member of 808 State with "Pacific State," brought his trailblazing style that laid the foundation for jungle and drum and bass. With eleven albums and over 30 years of independence, Gerald's set was a masterclass in electronic innovation, pushing the boundaries of dance music with his "true school" flavor.

Joining him is the Jungle Drummer, who’s performed with Shy Fx, London Electricity, Beardyman and many more. He is a powerhouse on the global club and festival circuit known for his electrifying live performances and live shows that span a multitude of styles and genres.

D.E.L.S. - Doka's monthly electronic live music gathering - has turned one, and we thought it would be fitting to celebrate with an extra long session of live improvised electronic music. Starting out intimate and experimental and ending in an all out dance-floor situation.

Joining us from the UK for this special event, is none other than the Manchester acid house protagonist A Guy Called Gerald. The man who continues to push the boundaries of electronic dance music will be bringing his "true school" flavor to Amsterdam. Gerald’s recent studio encounter with Julien Chaptal, turned into an impromptu improvised studio jam. Their spark will be brought back in Doka. Further on the bill: local DJ hero, Eric de Man, who has been making a determined come back on the electronic live scene. We expect roaring, infectious grooves to be churning out of his trusty MPC and his electro-rchestra! Zsa Zsa impressed us so much with her debut performance a few months ago that we couldn’t resist inviting her once more to the jamming table. Her warm and deep melodic grooves have a way to reach deep down into the soul.

It was an absolute delight to curate this eclectic mix of stella artists with William Hamilton Mauseth for BMC’s FREE Night Time Industry Association networking party on Friday 24th May at the newly refurbished The Tempest!

I’ll be kicking off the Ibiza Latino sunset vibe from 6pm ~ then Dorian Flagrant will bring the Afro House & indie dance flavours ~ before headliners Alex P & A Guy Called Gerald take us a funky tech & acid house trip til the wee hrs!

It’s a FREE beach party right on Brighton seafront playing under the new Tempest DJ canopy on their newly installed Martin Audio sound system ~ so come on down to join us partying outside under the stars!!

A Guy Called Gerald is no stranger to the world, not only is he one of house music’s earliest, he literally helped craft the UK Dance scene by purveying quite frankly the first UK acid house track Voodoo Ray, and was a part of 808 state, which saw him release another very important imprint, Pacific State.

Along with that Gerald Simpson was responsible for Juice Box Records, which in its 7 years basically created the blueprint for jungle and drum and bass alongside releases by masters at work Goldie & Finley Quaye.

United Nations Anti Racism Day Demonstration

On 16th March 2024, R 3 Soundsystem’s HOUSE AGAINST HATE mobile protest unit will be hitting the streets of London along with thousands of demonstrators to protest against the racist, xenophobic, transphobic, anti-immigrant, pro-Israel contingent in the UK establishment.

R 3 Soundsystem, in association with Black Artist Database, Stand Up to Racism, Love Music Hate Racism & Homo-Centric Records have invited a host of international DJs & musicians to reconvene once again, around our soundsystem to tell the UK establishment to STOP THE HATE.

Activist and DJ Gideön says, “As the Tories ratchet up their anti-immigration rhetoric, as Trump plots his second attempt at dismantling US democracy and as Labour fail to call out Israel’s genocide, we must unite
once again around our community soundsystem to protest the global consolidation of rightwing power. Bring banners, loudhailers and friends plus everything you need to kick-start the revolution.”

We will be collecting money for Medical Aid For Palestinians.

R 3 Soundsystem is a consortium of DJs, musicians, producers, recording artists, record labels, festivals, nightclubs, sound systems, activists, movements, and cultural organisations, all united in our love of music
and our rejection of right-wing nationalism.

Manchester's 17 year long running Community party hosted by Manc DJ Irfan Rainy goes back to the 80s where he and the Acid House legend & fellow Manc A Guy Called Gerald first met. Gerald went on worldwide stardom with his hit song ' Vodoo Ray ' and the rest is history. Gerald advised Irfan re music equipment before Irfan set up his Rainy City Music label in the 90s. The two ambassadors are second to none when it comes to real inner city Manc Electronic music and Dj history and will now bring some history to the much White Hotel, Expect to hear a deep history of Afro Futurist electronic dance music going back to the 80s.

This is a guy who just doesn't quit at being at the top of his game. His output is consistent and excellent. His all night long live sets are a real journey through 30 years of his hard drives whilst using hardware and software to manipulate the music live on the eve…it’s a real sight to behold!
