2010 Message
from our Chairperson
Dear Friends
In
my seventh year of office as the chairperson of Linlithgow and
Linlithgow Bridge Children’s Gala Day I write this letter with thoughts
of last year and feel as though it was just yesterday that Joyce McGurk
crowned Jennifer Adams Queen of Hearts.
The Gala Day takes many
months of hard work to prepare. The fund raising, rehearsals and
stage building only take place because of the determination of the
committee members. They work tirelessly to make sure the Children
have a day they will remember for the rest of their lives and I thank
them on behalf of the community for their continued support.
The
wider community also support and contribute to the day. The
schools, youth organisations, bands, clubs, churches, Deacons Court and
many more. To them the committee are very grateful.
In
this 80th Anniversary year it will be a great honour to have Mrs Agnes
Aitken to crown our Queen. She is a former Queen herself. I am sure she
feels the same excitement in crowning this year’s Queen as she did when
she started her reign.
This year the honour of being Queen of
the Gala goes to Jessica Brown. She joins a long list of young ladies
from the town who have been honoured to be crowned Queen of
Hearts. I hope that Jessica and her family have a very happy and
memorable day and enjoy the part they will play in making the Gala a
success.
I hope everyone involved in this year’s Gala enjoys it
as much as I enjoy being involved in it. Whatever your
involvement, from cheering the children on the street to taking part in
the procession, be assured that not only the committee but also the
children value your support greatly.
Yours sincerely
Evelyn Kidd
Chairperson
