I'll pretty much be leaving you guys i.e. yourself, Rob, Joel, Phil (if he can
make it) plus [if they decide to come*] Mark U, Mike T, Alex T and JGH to do
what you want on the "Island", though there will be a few 'conditions' (see
below!). But Michael: feel free to take the lead in terms of coordinating a
plan for pre-setting Econet addresses etc.
Oh yeah, if folks can't decide on whose machines should/shouldn't be included,
Rob O'Donnell has the final say, ok? =)
* = to those who haven't bought tickets, I wouldn't leave it too much longer
as sales have really started to accelerate now
Ok, about those 'conditions ' ... ;) !
- I would like four Beebs set up to run CAVER (after all, it is supposed to be
a gaming convention!). These would ideally be located on the tables at the
bottom and the left (two Beebs per table). Now the Caver setup at Byte Back
wasn't stable, so it would be ideal if one person could bring all 4 x Caver
Beebs + their own Econet gear [with Caver already loaded onto the Filestore]
where the Caver installation has been thoroughly tested beforehand. Any
volunteers? :-) This particular Econet setup would need to be isolated from
the other stations and fileservers at the show.
- that you leave room for Rob's laptop(s) running BeebEm w/ Econet + BBS
hacks
- that you also leave room for Ian Stocks' Acorn Atom (which he's successfully
interfaced with an Econet board from a BBC Master). We might be able to do
something with a System 3, though I doubt we'll have it ready in time.
- computers and fileservers/filestores must not spread beyond the edges of the
tables (as it's very important that the 1.5m aisleways are respected at all
times). Though it will be fine to make use of the space directly under tables,
for fileservers/filestores only (not Beebs!). Definitely don't want to see any
gear spreading onto chairs or anything!
- Any machines that don't end up being used on the island should be taken back
to cars etc ... appearance is everything*! :)
* = if your Beebs/Monitors/Drives/Filestores are in a particularly manky state
- I'd be grateful if you could invest in a can of Foam Cleaner and give them a
good wipe before the show! ;)

Yes, it would be nice to have at least one Arc on the island, as opposed to
limiting it to the usual suspects (Beebs and Masters). And I like Mark's idea
of getting his A4 in on the act.

Indeed! :)

I intentionally located yourself, Rob and Sprow next to Econet island, so no
problems if you three want to hook your own machines up (provided that cables
are properly taped to the floor). But please leave the machines on the other
tables alone! ;)
Anyway, apologies if my rattling off all these demands is making me sound like
a little Hitler - it's just I'm really keen to ensure that the entire room is
accessible to all visitors, not just the Econet-heads! :)
Thanks for your support, guys.
