Thanks for that, I found that pressing R and TAB go to the options on the
earlier screenshot. I've reformatted the flash cards, using 8-bit device width
which now correctly detects the size of the card. In 16-bit mode it was giving
me a large negative number for the drive size which then had to be entered
manually. I don't know if it makes any difference to the end result.
Although relatively minor on the BeebMaster disasters scale, I had to reformat
the cards (losing the Technomatic backup as a result) because I tried to make
a huge file to test out the maximum file size on Level 3 Econet. I did
*CREATE BIGFILE FFFF00 (which is just less than 16MB, which I thought was
the limit on Acorn L3) but it crashed the server and I had to restart. When I
did, the free space had reduced from 500MB to 19MB and any attempt to
copy the data on the disc resulted in FS Error 53 all over the place, so
I decided
to start again.
Next time I'm messing about, I'll make sure I use a blank disc!
Best wishes,
Ian

Hidden debug option. Press Shift-TAB to display full information.
Thinking about it, maybe HDInit should start in full info mode, or
at least a displayed hint that tells you you can switch to full
info.
You can customise your own version; near to line 300-ish is
a line that ends full%=FALSE. Change to full%=TRUE.
