LISA MAY
Voodoo Ray (Manifesto)
TWO CLASSICS — one underground, one overground and neither, funnily enough, wombling free. In case you thought you'd momentarily lost your mind, yes 'Voodoo Ray' is A Guy Called Gerald's watershed acid house affair from the turn of the decade, back from the grave again complete with pointless reworkings that come nowhere near the original's towering strength. And who in voodoo is Lisa May, you may well ask? She's the voice behind the haunting, lolloping lo-fi stormer who had to put her name to the reissue because Gerald reckons the tune's cursed and won't have his name associated with it.
