Turning finals from the South, Marble Mountain AF (MMAF). There were six Marine squadrons (4HMM - H-46, 1HMH - H-53, and 1HML - UH1(huey)). In ddition there was an OV-10 squadron and Army units flying Hueys and Mohawks. So the field was pretty crowded, especially late in the day when everyone was coming back short on fuel. I saw 28 airplanes (fixed and rotary wing) in the pattern. The tower made no attempt to sort them out but just told them all to be careful. They sorted it out. In the background is Monkey Mountain nd the stretch of beach where "China Beach" was located.
