Red-Eared Terrapin (Chrysemys scripta elegans) laying eggs in the outdoor vivarium. She had spent two weeks exploring the vivarium and digging test egg burrows before she finally decided on the best site. The eggs are hard shelled and initially very fragile - it's quite frightening to watch her tamping them down with her back legs. But very interesting to see the thoroughness with which she buries them and conceals the egg-laying site. She laid 12 in all - unfortunately though, all the eggs were infertile.
