Last night

Sleep was unkindly reluctant

To come into my eyes;

My heart on fire,

I went to the window

For water:

Before long,

The Sheherazade of the Moon,

In the Palace of Stars

Put Sleep and me both

Under the spell

Of her primordial stories.
