The "Treasure Book" (Ganj-nameh)Mount Alvand, 5 kilometres from Hamedan, hosts a number of beautiful gardens and waterfalls and a famous stone carving named the "Treasure Book" (Ganj-nameh). The treasure book is a pair of Achaemenian rock carvings from Darius (on the left) and his son Xerxes I. Inscribed in the old Persian, Elamite and Neo Babylonian languages, these tablets list the kings' titles and hence the extent of their empires at the time. |

Nush-e Jan, Median fire-templeNush-e Jan is a mound, about 50 kilometres south of Hamedan and contains the remains of a median fire temple. It dates from the 8th century BC, and is one of the earliest discovered in Iran. |

Lalehjin villageThe village of Lalejin (approximately 32 kilometres north of Hamedan) is famous for ceramic arts, particularly with the turquoise glaze for which the region is known. |
