Ungrateful Day

Silence shall fall into the night.

A moment of silence for those who shall pass through the night,

They would have given anything but their souls to see the dawn.

At daybreak, grumpy people will drag to work

Cursing their bosses and situations wishing they where someone else.

On soiled hospital beds patients ponder in dreams,

When they will have the privilege of smelling the green in the grass again.

After work, men go home to slap their wives

While the echoes quake in the ears of their frightened children.

Prisoners stare at the grey brick walls,

They shed tears and blood as they relive their fatal errors at night.

When the sun goes home

And the melancholy moon arrives they all will have one thing in mind:

"If I had only said I love you and am sorry."
